Etiquette Classes for School Pupils

Hallelujah Fowey Comprehensive School. Brilliant initiative to run etiquette and manners classes for the boys; and surprise, surprise, they like it!! Over the last year I have been championing a campaign to improve manners via my Friday blog called “Etiquette Friday.”
How pleased was I today to see on BBC Breakfast a group of boys from Fowey Comprehensive School having lessons on Etiquette, manners and, oh yes!, personal grooming – i.e. cleaning shoes. Why were the boys so enthusiastic? Because the girls had requested the boys needed it and, utlimately, who do the boys want to impress?
A complete justification of the Appearance Management Etiquette & Manners courses.
In my blogs on Manners & Social Skills for Children I encourage parents to guide their children and to lead by example. The students in the programme commented how much they enjoyed the lessons and will benefit from them, in particular, in the future by giving them more confidence when going for, say, an interview and, more generally, just in interacting with other people. The girls have also received lessons on looking ladylike.
Well done to Fowey School for having the initiative to do this. Better manners will lead to a better society.
Teach love, generosity, good manners and some of that will drift from the classroom to the home and who knows, the children will be educating the parents. Roger Moore
