Etiquette Friday – Eating with Your Mouth OpenBy Angela Marshall, 5th Oct 2012
It’s Friday and the day I request you join me in my campaign for 2012 to change “Casual Friday” to “Etiquette Friday”, to get people and companies involved. If we consciously make an effort every Friday then hopefully it will become a habit every day. I challenge you to make one small change a week and by the end of the year let’s hope we have a more pleasant and positive society.
Eating with Your Mouth Open
Most people find it unacceptable to see someone eating with their mouth open. For one thing it is not pleasant to see what the person is chewing. Sitting at a table and discussing the day’s events and communicating is good for the family, but if you eat with your mouth open you will make more noise and the people you are with will have to tolerate the sights and sounds of food in your mouth as you chew it .
Have a look in the mirror when you eat and see what a difference it makes when you eat with your mouth closed rather than open.
Tip– Take smaller mouthfuls and finish before starting to talk again, if you really need to speak at least put your hand up against your mouth first.
