Etiquette Friday – Is Chivalry & Courtesy Making a Comeback?

By Angela Marshall, 28th Sep 2012

It’s Friday and the day I request you join me in my campaign for 2012 to change “Casual Friday” to “Etiquette Friday”, to get people and companies involved. If we consciously make an effort every Friday then hopefully it will become a habit every day. I challenge you to make one small change a week and by the end of the year let’s hope we have a more pleasant and positive society.

Is Chivalry & Courtesy Making a Comeback?

I have recently noticed how several men have been very polite and stood back to allow me to get on and off the train before them. I, of course, thanked them and smiled, but  little do they know it has also cheered me up and made my journey that much more pleasant. It is the thought that someone has been considerate and thoughtful. Now some women may not like a man to be chivalrous, but I think most do.

My husband often will help a person struggling with luggage off the train or down steps and again, the other day, I noticed a young man offering to help carry an elderly women’s case down the steps in the underground.

People with good manners stand out from the crowd
and are held in higher esteem.

What do you think?

Do you feel much happier when someone shows some courtesy to you?
