RBS brand is very much spoken about at present with the debate about bonuses. Unfortunately all the staff of RBS will be tarnished with arrogance, greed, self centred and several other adjectives. Yet it is a small percentage of staff that gets paid the large bonuses. However, as these people are suppose to be the best of the best, to help the company get back into profit, it would greatly benefit their personal image and personal brand if they were to take smaller bonus. This in turn would improve the brand of the bank and the general public would be more willing to support them. This is the very time that people look for strong leadership and good people they can look up to.
There are some leaders that are looking to lead by example, by taking a lesser salary, and it will be interesting to see how well the new Managing Director of Allied Irish Banks does Cohm Doherty who has taken less pay.
A strong personal brand can be tarnished overnight, as Tiger Woods is finding out. It will be interesting to see if his sponsorship will be affected.
Your personal image and brand is extremely important in helping you to achieve your goals but it is also important in helping you to feel good about yourself and with other people. Appearance Management helps people to improve their personal image.
