RBS – THE CORPORATE AND PERSONAL BRAND

RBS brand is very much spoken about at present with the debate about bonuses. Unfortunately all the staff of RBS will be tarnished with arrogance, greed, self centred and several other adjectives. Yet it is a small percentage of staff that gets paid the large bonuses. However, as these people are suppose to be the best of the best, to help the company get back into profit, it would greatly benefit their personal image and personal brand if they were to take smaller bonus. This in turn would improve the brand of the bank and the general public would be more willing to support them. This is the very time that people look for strong leadership and good people they can look up to.

There are some leaders that are looking to lead by example, by taking a lesser salary,  and it will be interesting to see how well the new Managing Director of Allied Irish Banks does Cohm Doherty who has taken less pay.

A strong personal brand can be tarnished overnight, as Tiger Woods is finding out. It will be interesting to see if his sponsorship will be affected.

Your personal image and brand is extremely important in helping you to achieve your goals but it is also important in helping you to feel good about yourself and with other people. Appearance Management helps people to improve their personal image.

Having a Passion and Enjoying Your work is Key

People who do a great job in the hospitality industry are summed up as ASK. They have a positive Attitude, great Skills and Knowledge. We have just been the beneficiaries of this, at a wonderful week’s break at  La Residencia in Majorca.

This made me think  how much better life would be and how a company’s bottom line would improve if we all had the same attitude to our work. Companies need to think about the training of their staff and how to improve what image they portray. Management need to ask – Do their employees represent the corporate brand? Our personal image i.e. the way we look, sound and behave, has a significant impact on how our company is perceived. Looking good gives people confidence, good body language helps to portray a positive message and good manners, whilst not being commented upon, will, like bad manners, never be forgotten.

If you believe that how your people engage with your clients matters then we can help, so please contact, image consultants Appearance Management
